The Chamberlain Network Joins National Call to Condemn Political Violence and Defend Free Expression

ATLANTA, GA – The Chamberlain Network is proud to have signed onto a national letter condemning political violence and denouncing threats of retaliation against nonprofit and charitable organizations in the aftermath of the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

The letter makes clear that violence has no place in American civic life and that no one should fear for their safety because of their beliefs. It also warns against efforts to exploit tragedy as a pretext for punishing civil society groups. Nonprofit and charitable organizations provide critical services in every community, from caring for vulnerable populations to defending the rule of law. Attempts to intimidate or silence these organizations put that work at risk and undermine the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution.

“Political violence is a direct assault on the freedoms we swore to protect in uniform,” said Chris Purdy, Founder and CEO of The Chamberlain Network. “We honor that oath by opposing violence wherever it comes from, and by standing firmly against efforts to silence or intimidate civil society organizations that strengthen our democracy every day.”

This call comes at a time when the nation is reeling from repeated acts of political violence. Over the past 18 months, Americans have witnessed the assassination of Minnesota lawmakers, the firebombing of Governor Josh Shapiro’s home, an attempted assassination of a former president, and now the murder of Charlie Kirk. Each of these incidents reflects the same dangerous reality: violence is being used as a political weapon, and it is tearing at the fabric of our democracy .

The Chamberlain Network joins partners across the country in rejecting this descent into intimidation and bloodshed. Political disagreements must be settled through debate, organizing, and the ballot box — never through force. In this fragile moment, the path forward requires rejecting retribution, resisting division, and recommitting ourselves to the freedoms that allow Americans to live, speak, and serve together in peace.
