The Chamberlain Network Stands with Targeted Minnesota Lawmakers and Calls for Americans to Reject Political Violence
This morning’s attack on Minnesota lawmakers is a devastating reminder of the growing threat violence poses to public service in this country.
We are heartbroken to learn that Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed in their home. Senator John Hoffman and his wife remain in critical condition after being targeted in a separate but coordinated shooting.
“We cannot look away from what happened this morning,” said Christopher Purdy, Founder and CEO of The Chamberlain Network. “An elected official was assassinated in her home, and another is in critical condition. America’s leaders across the spectrum must immediately condemn this act of political terror. If we want to live in a country where public service is possible, we have to reject political violence in every form—and make it clear that this is not how we resolve our differences.”
These are not just individual tragedies—they are attacks on the idea that Americans should be able to serve their communities without fear.
We stand with the families, loved ones, and communities of those harmed today. And we say plainly: there is no place for political violence in a free society.
The Chamberlain Network will continue working with veterans and military families across the country to uphold the values that hold our democracy together—peace, dignity, and the right to serve without fear. We reiterate our position that political violence in any form against any leader is unacceptable.
