The Chamberlain Network Condemns Attack at White House Correspondents' Dinner
Atlanta, GA — The Chamberlain Network condemns the armed attack at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday night, April 25, 2026, at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C. A gunman breached the screening area outside the ballroom, exchanged fire with law enforcement, and was taken into custody. One federal officer was struck and is expected to recover. The President, the First Lady, the Vice President, members of the Cabinet, journalists, and other attendees were evacuated safely.
TCN is grateful for the swift response of the United States Secret Service, the Metropolitan Police Department, and the federal officers and agents who placed themselves between the gunman and the people inside that room. Their training and their willingness to run toward danger exemplify the standards we expect from professional law enforcement.
"Political violence is never acceptable, full stop,” said Chris Purdy, Founder and CEO of The Chamberlain Network, “As veterans, we have served this country because we believed in the ideals it stands for: freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, the freedom for every person to have a voice without fear of retribution. "While we don't yet know the motive of this shooter, what is clear is that Americans will not be intimidated by an attack on a free press, our elected officials, and the gathering of citizens. That is unacceptable."
The investigation is ongoing, and TCN trusts federal investigators to carry out a thorough, professional investigation, and we are confident those responsible for this act will be brought swiftly to justice. What we will not do is let an act like this be turned against entire communities or political groups. The work in front of us is to stay steady, to keep faith with one another, and to refuse the pull toward blame.
