TCN Asks Congress To Protect Veterans By Demanding That Veteran Civil Servants and Others Be Reinstated

This week, The Chamberlain Network submitted a letter signed by almost 800 Americans, over half of whom are veterans, to the House and Senate Veterans Affairs Committees asking them to protect U.S. veterans and other federal civil servants by reinstating those who were capriciously and unlawfully terminated by executive orders.

For generations, veterans have continued their service by joining the federal workforce. But now, thousands of dedicated federal employees, including veterans, are being removed from their jobs without cause.

Veterans and concerned Americans stand in solidarity and in support of our civil service who have been fired without cause. The more than 700 signatories to the letter were clear that the recent layoffs violated a basic trust between workers and the federal government:

Like all Americans, we want an efficient government. We pay taxes, too. But we expect our government to follow the laws and procedures it sets for terminating its employees, just as service members are expected to follow lawful orders and procedures in the military. This means actual evaluations before firing someone for performance. This means notice before laying someone off. These were promises made and not kept

We’re calling on both the House and Senate Veterans Affairs Committees to protect veterans by demanding that the Executive Branch reinstate those who were indiscriminately fired and abide by the laws and procedures set forth to protect federal employees.
