Veterans are watching a dangerous shift: Guard units and even Marines deployed into U.S. cities under “emergencies” a federal judge called “untethered to the facts.”
Evans and Johnston — veterans of Iraq and Vietnam — remind us that service doesn’t end at discharge. The oath we took demands that we speak up when troops are pushed into roles never meant for them.
They call on veterans everywhere to steady those in uniform now facing unprecedented moral strain — and to defend the nonpartisan military our democracy relies on.
