The Chamberlain Network Condemns the Executive Order Usurping State Authority Over Elections

Atlanta, GA — The Chamberlain Network condemns President Trump’s new executive order that directs the federal government to compile a national voter eligibility list in order to determine who may vote by mail. This order is a direct and unconstitutional attempt by the federal government to nationalize our elections.

The Constitution gives states the authority to administer their own elections. The Founders were unambiguous: the integrity of our democratic process depends on elections being run close to the people, not dictated from Washington, DC. This executive order obliterates that principle by having federal agencies tell states who is eligible to vote by mail in their elections.

"This executive order attacks the very foundation of our Republic: our right to vote," said Chris Purdy, CEO & Founder of The Chamberlain Network. "No president has the authority to hand pick who gets to vote in America. The states administer elections. The Chamberlain Network will stand with every American affected by this order and we demand that state leaders step up to defend their constitutional rights and responsibilities."

An increasing number of Americans vote by mail, including many members of the military. Instituting a rule such as this risks disenfranchising many Americans who have a right to make their voices heard by voting for their representatives.

The Chamberlain Network calls on all Americans to remind their elected officials that election management and oversight belongs at the state level. The power to determine who votes in America cannot be ceded to any administration, of any party, at any time.
